relative has had a life insurance policy with Shell Canada with his employer from which he retired 20 years ago. (he worked there 30 years before retiring. would the base amount $20,000 have increase over these years for interest etc as he would have contributed.

Very often these policies are structured where the death benefit goes down upon reaching certain ages.

From the information I have read so fa about this insurance policy I have understood that over years the death benefit don't increase but if a person opts for life insurance policy at later stage in his life the policy rate is bit higher as compared to policy rate at younger age.
